system and cast in place access nodes,
primarily in Sandstone.
Installation of Sanitary Sewer, Storm Drain and
Waterline.
Construction of utility tunnel, utilidor, duct
bank and electrical systems, pile support
systems, pedestrian walkways and temporary
parking.
Complete re-build of the access road into
the campus, and resurfacing of the service
road including demolition, site clearing and
excavation, erosion and sedimentation control,
drainage improvements and landscaping.
IMCO used one of the largest Trenchers in
North America to perform the rock excavation
of the tunnel and the deep sanitary sewer line.
The tunnel houses a high pressure
steam line used by WWU for heating the
campus and houses all of the primary
electrical system for WWU. Campus
activities were not interrupted by
conventional rock blasting. By trenching,
the work was performed more safely.
