Project Description:
Construction and realignment of 2500 lineal
feet the United States Bureau of Reclamation
Lost River Diversion Irrigation Channel.
Realignment of the 175 foot wide canal consisted
of main channel excavation and levee
embankment construction in high groundwater
conditions.
Dewatering wells were required to maintain
channel excavation and hauling operations.
Filling and re-grading of approximately 40 acres
of land adjacent to the canal in order to expand
the Klamath Falls Airport runway safety area.
Total earthwork included approximately
152,000 cubic yards of excavation and 137,000
cubic yards of backfill.
Keys to Success:
- A majority of the extensive earthwork was successfully completed in 2 months to avoid winter wet weather conditions.
- Demanding federal levee construction specifications were met or exceeded on the project.
