Engineer: Brown & Caldwell & Kim Murillo Project Date:June 12, 2004 - October 6, 2006
Project Description: The LOTT Alliance is the regional wastewater treatment system serving the cities of Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater and northern Thurston County (LOTT) in Washington State. The core of LOTT's long-range wastewater resource management plan is production of Class A Reclaimed Water, which is the highest quality of reclaimed water as designated by the Washington Departments of Health and Ecology.
The project had 600,000 BF of Timber that was
logged. Property was then stumped, piled, and
chipped.
11.5 acres of wetland ponds were constructed
and lined with clay (then topsoil) and had a series
of HDPE header pipes installed in them to control
levels. The water that fed the ponds was reclaimed
water from their treatment plant thru a
14” diameter pipe line.
Construction of 8 acres of recharge basins also included
installation of large 24” HDPE header piping,
which were fed from a series of vaults and
used to control the pond elevation.
Points of Interest:
All 35 acres (including ponds)were
planted with water lilys, and under
water vegetation.
Walking paths & kiosks for the
public to view the site were also
constructed.
The ponds and recharge basins
had to be completed before the
completion of the treatment plant, in
order to discharge water.
