IMCO Construction awarded Route 2 job

On June 1, 2011 the Guam Department of Public Works awarded IMCO General Construction the Route 2 Culverts & Slide Repair Project valued at $3.8M. The project is the largest contract awarded to IMCO since establishing a presence in Guam in 2009.

The project reconstructs three damaged culverts along Route 2, a major island roadway, in the villages of Agat and Umatac. Work also includes construction of a concrete wall along a steep rock cut on Route 2 near Cetti Bay. IMCO was awarded the project after the original general contractor defaulted and the project was taken over by the bonding agency and the Guam Department of Public Works. The project has been at a standstill for three months. IMCO has 200 calendar days to complete the project.

In early 2009, IMCO opened a regional office in Guam with a dedicated team of professionals and has quickly become acquainted with the local agencies, government and culture. Since establishment, IMCO crews have worked on a number of small works projects for various General Contractors and owners. Guam is located 3800 miles southwest of Hawaii in the Mariana island chain and measures only 12 miles wide and 30 miles long.

Work Starts on Arlington Wastewater Plant
The Associated Press, Published May 06, 2009, The Olympian

ARLINGTON, Wash. – Work has started on a $30 million upgrade of Arlington's wastewater treatment plant, the first project in Snohomish County to be paid for in part by federal stimulus money.

The sewage plant is being improved to meet state requirements to reduce pollution on the Stillaguamish River and in Puget Sound. The plant already has reached 85 percent of capacity, and city officials say the expansion should give it sufficient capacity for the next 20 to 25 years.

The Herald of Everett reports that Arlington city officials held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday evening, although contractor IMCO Construction of Bellingham actually had started work earlier in the day. The job is expected to be completed by January 2011.

IMCO Awarded Littlerock Road Improvement Contract
The News Tribune, Posted July 08, 2009

TUMWATER – The stalled Littlerock Road improvement project is scheduled to resume this month after the City Council awarded the primary construction contract for a second time.

The council awarded the contract to IMCO General Construction of Bellingham for $3,408,904.35.

Work stopped in late April when the first general contractor, Alpha Development of Tacoma, notified the city it couldn’t complete the project and walked away about midway through for reasons that remain unclear. The city terminated the contract awarded Aug. 5 for an amount of $4,299,202.86.

The contractor has not returned phone messages left by The Olympian seeking an explanation, although its president, Lee Allison, wrote in an e-mail that it was an “unfortunate situation” and “everyone involved in these two projects are carefully considering the decisions they made and will learn by any mistakes they may have made.”
